The Pan African Space Station and Liquid Fridge present 'ARD-16, Liquid Fridge's sixteenth event of crazed sound and light. Once again, hardened members of the 'ardkore sonic attack squad join eager new recruits for a sweet sixteen to remember. A night to delight and disturb with acoustic-deep-dub-electro-jazz-bass-tech-hop, ample bleeps, sweeps and the odd crooner classic.
Expect music from all corners:
Shower Songs ft. The Ventriloquist (Live PA)
Brendon Bussy (mandolin) and Masha du Toit (voice) expose their taste in showerable songs whilst the Ventriloquist hums along, somewhat spasmodically. (http://www.brendonbussy.co.za)
Ntone Edjabe (DJ Set)
The Fong Kong Bantu Sound System co-founder takes it off the chart, exploring worlds they never told you about. (http://www.myspace.com/fongkongbantu, http://www.panafricanspacestation.org.za)
Bruno Morphet (DJ Set)
Killer Robot resident Bruno Morphet spices up a crisp base of techno with sprinklings of dub, slices of house and high cholesterol lashings of synthpop. (http://www.myspace.com/brunomorphet)
CY Cowboys (DJ Set)
The true pioneers of Bellville Style. Dance to Q & Kakpraat's electro, rock, breaks, techno, kitchen sink mash-up. (http://www.cheaptricks.co.za)
Martin Sims (DJ Set)
Eclectic to a fault with a programme of contemporary gyrating. Dubstep to techno, then all around the house with a swirl of nonsense.
With blinding visuals:
Simstim
Simstim has gone lo-fi. Tired of laptops fried by spilt beer and trying to VJ when hammered, he has ditched the usual VJ gear overload in favour of an old-school video Etch-a-Sketch.
Courtesy of Cheap Tricks, we have CDs to give away. We love Bellville style.
See you there.
